Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova: Me and Alize were like two tigresses who don’t want to give in to each other

Russian tennis player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won the match against the representative of France Alize Cornet at the Billie Jean King Cup. The match ended with a score of 5:7, 6:4, 6:2 in favor of the Russian.

The successful play of the Samara native allowed Russia to reach the semifinals ahead of schedule. Pavlyuchenkova commented on her victory to the press service of the competition.

“I’m very happy and proud of myself because of what an incredible match I managed to win. We had a good level of tennis but most importantly we showed an unbelievable fighting spirit.

Me and Alize were like two tigresses who don’t want to give in to each other even a little bit. It was cool, because that’s what sports are all about.

Thus the score was tied between Russia and France – 1:1. Earlier Ekaterina Alexandrova lost in three sets to Clara Burel.

Reminder: Russia needed to get at least one victory to get to the semifinals. The Russian is still leading in head-to-head meetings with the players – 10:1.

“Semifinals! What a battle it was! That’s the kind of moment we play tennis for. It means so much to us.

Big respect to Alize Cornet and a huge heart for my team. I blew my voice away today”, Anastasia wrote on Instagram.
